Welcome to Nutmeg café. We're Elaine and Rob, and we opened Nutmeg in 2006. This is our first business venture into the world of food after several years of teaching English in Japan, so it is quite a change and a challenge. We love Scarborough and we've been very warmly welcomed here. Nutmeg Café now has a loyal local following as well as visits from tourists to the area.

We are passionate about our business and we try to include a generous amount of positive attributes into the choice and preparation of the food on our menu with many dishes including ingredients that are either fair trade, organic, vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free. Our menu often reflects seasonal foods too. We use local suppliers where possible with most of our vegetables sourced from Anne's Organic Farm Shop in Pickering . Our pulses, beans and dry goods are sourced mainly from Lembas and are fair trade and organic.

We're happy to support Scarborough's artists and Nutmeg Café regularly displays work by local artists, including Ian Mitchell, David Yates and Paula Zimmerman.
